What is Favicon ?

Most of you won't know what actually 'Favicon' is. Favicon is a small icon on the left side of the address bar as shown in pic. This icon is very useful to give a face to your brand website. It makes your website stand alone in a long list of same topic websites. Most commonly used sizes for favicons are 16*16 and 32*32 pixels. Format used is 'ico'.

To ad Favicons to your site you gonna need a Favicon, if you already have a ready made icon than skip this step and directly jump to Step 2. If you want to get a free ready-made icon than browse through the following online favicon collections and choose your icon:

Step 2

How to Ad Favicon to your Blog ?

There are two ways to complete this step, one is and official way and the other one is a bit unofficial.

Unofficial : 

We gonna divide this step into two parts :

a- Upload Favicon to Favicon Host

This step enables you to ad icon manually. Upload it to any image hosting service. Here is a list of online favicon hosting platforms at your disposal.A detailed is here

b- Ad Favicon address to Blogger Html

Since you have completed your favicon uploading, now we are going to ad it to blog html

i- Now click Design > Edit Html and make a backup of your existing blogger template.

ii-Now check 'Expand Widget Template' and look for the following code

<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>

and paste the following code just below it, ad your favicon address to the 'icon address' part

Official :

It's quite a simple step and reduces effort to a great deal. After you have completed your favicon designing just logon to your blogger and goto Design > Page Element. You can clearly see a newly added function on top of your blog layout 'Favicon'. Click 'edit', a window will popup asking you to upload your required favicon from hard-drive. All you have to do id to upload Favicon and click 'Save'. Most probably it will start showing instantly, if not than within half and hour or so you will see your required results.
